Runaway Slide is a young blues/rock band, from Montreal, Canada, formed in October 2006. Fresh out of the starting gates and never looking back, this cousin power-trio, all born in 1994 has marveled audiences with their amazing talent and stage performances. Winners of the 2008 Lys Blues Upcoming Band of the Year award, Justin Saladino (guitar/vocal) Adam Passalacqua (drums) and Matthew Passalacqua (bass) have clearly proven they have what it takes. Justin Saladino started playing his guitar at the age of six. By nine he was showing an amazing ability in reading and playing music from such artists as: Hendrix, S.R.V, Buddy Guy and Santana. At the very young age of two, Adam Passalacqua picked up a pair of his dad’s old drums sticks, and to everyone’s amazement, he could keep a beat. His dad then introduced him to drummers like Buddy Rich, Louie Belson, Neil Pert, etc….and the rest is history. Matthew Passalacqua, inspired by his cousins' talent, started to play his dad's bass guitar at the age of twelve. He practiced very hard and in a short period of time he joined his cousins to form Runaway Slide. In August of 2008, thanks to a cultural exchange between the Playing with Fire Concert series in Omaha, Nebraska and the Mont Tremblant International Blues Festival, Quebec, Runaway Slide had the opportunity to perform for the first time in the U.S. Runaway Slide has shared the stage with the likes of Guy Belanger, Paul Deslauriers, Dawn Tyler Blues Project, Steve Mariner, Ronnie Baker Brooks, Kenny “Blues Boss” Wayne, Walter Trout and Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush. At just twelve years of age, Runaway Slide received 2nd place honours at the 1st annual Prix Étoiles Galaxie de Radio-Canada contest held at the 2007 Mont-Tremblant blues festival. Shortly after Runaway Slide was invited to open up the evening’s entertainment at the 5th edition of the 2007 Lys Blues Awards Gala held at Club Soda. In December 2007 the boys were honoured to be part of a great cause, the Telethon of the Stars making their debut appearance on T.V. They were once again invited on the 2008 Telethon of Stars.
